Au Papier japonais offers much more than great courses. At the store, you’ll encounter the inspiration behind everything we do: the incomparably beautiful paper known as Washi!

There are more than 500 different kinds of Japanese paper in stock at the store—distinguished for its diversity of texture, finish and colour, its delicacy and lightness, but exceptional strength and responsiveness to impression and its low acidity which ensures a lasting image. Along with these exquisite papers, you'll find a wide range of complimentary sheets made in Nepal, Thailand, India, Madagascar, Mexico Zimbabwe and Montreal. While mostly thicker and rougher, they complement the refinement and thinness of the traditional Japanese papers.

You’ll find photo albums, journals, notebooks, stationery sets, pens, brushes, handmade cards, roll-up Japanese-style blinds, boxes (including those unique see-through, Sinemay mesh boxes), and books on subjects from bookbinding to the tea ceremony, from vegetarian sushi to Japanese joinery, from Zen interiors to papercrafts.

Looking for a kimono to wear or for decoration? We have both inexpensive ones made of cotton, and authentic silk, once owned kimonos. Or home décor items? There are shoji screens, lampshades in 13 different shapes and sizes, roll-up paper and bamboo blinds, and of course, much more. . .
